Honda CG125 Brake Pads & Shoes: Fitment Guide for Distributors
The Honda CG125 is the most-produced motorcycle engine platform in history. It has been built and cloned under dozens of names — CG125, CG150, CB125, GL125, TMX155, and countless local variants across Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. For parts distributors, that means one thing: CG-series brake parts are the highest-turnover friction SKUs you can stock, and getting the fitment wrong is the fastest way to lose a repair-shop customer.
This guide covers what actually varies across CG platforms and how to order the right parts.
Drum or disc: first question, every time
The CG platform shipped with drum brakes front and rear for most of its production life, but late-model and licensed variants (CG150 Titan, CB125F, and many Chinese and Indian clones) moved to a front disc.
Before quoting, confirm two things from the customer:
- Year and market version — a 2015 Brazilian CG150 and a 2010 Pakistani CG125 have different front brake setups
- Front brake type — drum (internal expanding shoe) or hydraulic disc
Our catalog separates these explicitly: brake pads for CG125-family bikes are listed as disc pads, while the classic drum version takes brake shoes. Mixing them up is the single most common order error we correct.
Drum brake shoes for CG125
Drum shoes come as a pair (two shoes with springs) and are specified by drum inner diameter and shoe width.
- Sold per set of two shoes with springs included
- Friction lining is bonded, occasionally riveted on older stock — bonded is the modern standard
- Check drum wear before fitting: a worn drum with new shoes gives a spongy, long-travel pedal
Our drum shoes for this family (BS-series) are produced with non-asbestos lining, GG friction grade, and are sold in pairs — MOQ 100 pairs.

Disc brake pads for CG125-family bikes
Late CG derivatives use a single-piston floating caliper. Pads are specified by:
- Pad thickness (typically 4–5 mm new)
- Backing plate dimensions and hole spacing
- Friction code — GG for most applications
Two practical notes from years of export experience:
- Pad shape is shared across many models. The same pad shape often fits CG150, CB125, NXR125 and others — if a customer's model isn't listed, ask for the pad's outline dimensions or a photo next to a ruler rather than guessing by model name.
- Cheap pads wear the disc. Low-cost semi-metallic pads with abrasive filler can groove a rotor in 3,000 km. For fleet customers, specify a friction code and backing plate thickness in the purchase contract, not just a price.

What to stock: a starter mix for CG-series markets
Based on order patterns from distributors in West Africa, Latin America, and South Asia, a CG-focused first order typically looks like:
| Item | Ratio | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Rear drum shoes | ~45% | Highest-volume wear item on drum-brake CG variants |
| Front disc pads | ~35% | Most common replacement on disc-brake variants |
| Front drum shoes | ~20% | Older units still in service in rural markets |
Adjust toward disc pads if your market's fleet skews to post-2015 bikes.
Packaging and private label for CG parts
CG parts sell through repair shops and small parts stores — packaging drives perceived quality more than any spec sheet. Our standard options:
- Neutral bulk cartons — lowest cost, for distributors who repack locally
- Printed color boxes — your brand, model number, and fitment list printed on the box
- Blister / carded — for retail shelves and chain stores
All three ship with a friction code and asbestos-free statement printed on the package, which many destination markets now require.
Getting the fitment right the first time
Send us:
- Photos of the old part next to a ruler (pad outline + thickness, or drum shoe width)
- The bike model, year, and market version
- Your target quantity per model
We'll match against our existing CG-family tooling and confirm the exact SKU before production — no guessing, no returns from fitment errors.
