Motorcycle Brake Pad MOQ, OEM Branding & Lead Time: A B2B Buyer's Guide
Most friction between importers and factories does not happen on the production line — it happens in the first three emails, over MOQ, branding, and delivery time. Misaligned expectations on these three points waste weeks. Here is exactly how each works at MOTOKS, and what to prepare before you send an inquiry.
Minimum order quantity: 100 pieces per model
Our MOQ is 100 pieces per model — and mixed models can be combined in one container.
This is deliberately low, and here is why it works for both sides:
- New distributors can build a first catalog across 20–30 popular models without locking capital into one SKU
- Established importers can trial a new compound or a new fitment market with pallet-level risk
- Mixed containers let you test market demand with real sales data before committing volume to any single part number
For context, many brake pad factories set MOQ at 1,000 sets per model — a barrier that forces new buyers to over-order or walk away. We would rather grow with your sell-through than with your warehouse risk.
OEM / ODM: your brand on our production line
We build brands. Three levels of customization are available:
- Private labeling — your logo on the packaging, our proven friction formulations. Fastest route to market: your brand identity on shelves within one production cycle.
- Full OEM — custom friction compound (tuned friction code, hardness, and backing plate spec for your market's climate and load profile), your part numbering, your packaging.
- ODM development — you bring a fitment target or a competitor sample; our engineers develop the pad from material formula up.
What we need from you to start OEM:
- Your logo in vector format (AI / EPS / high-res PDF)
- Target motorcycle models or OE part numbers
- Market information: country/region, typical bike displacement, road and climate conditions
- Estimated annual volume per model (an honest estimate is fine — it drives material planning)
Lead time: what actually drives it
Honest answer: lead time is a function of three variables, and any supplier who quotes you "15 days flat" before asking a single question is guessing.
| Stage | Typical time | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Quotation + sample confirmation | 3–7 days | How complete your model list and spec requirements are |
| Production (standard items) | 15–30 days | Order size, compound availability, production queue |
| Production (custom OEM compound) | 30–45 days | New tooling, material R&D, first-article approval |
| Shipping | Varies | Sea freight LCL/FCL to your port |
Two practical tips from 15+ years of exports:
- Confirm the packing spec early. Color box design, blister cards, or bulk cartons — packaging approval is the most common hidden delay.
- Book sea freight before production ends. For African and South American routes, vessel space — not production — is often the bottleneck.
Documents you receive with every shipment
Each order ships with:
- Commercial invoice & packing list
- Bill of lading (or airway bill)
- Product spec sheets with friction codes
- Material safety documentation (asbestos-free statement)
- COA / quality inspection records for your batch
How to get a fast, accurate quote
Send us this list and you will have a quotation in days, not weeks:
- Models (or OE numbers) and quantities per model
- Compound preference — or ask us to recommend (see our guide: sintered vs semi-metallic vs ceramic)
- Destination port
- Branding requirement: neutral packaging, private label, or full OEM
- Target first-shipment date
Inquiry channel: www.motoks.com/contact — we typically reply within minutes during business hours.
