Care Tips
Extend the Life of Pads & Rotors
A little daily attention goes a long way. Follow these simple habits to keep your brakes performing at their best and avoid premature wear.
🚫 Avoid dragging the brakes
Don't rest your foot or fingers on the brake controls while riding. Avoid continuous braking on long descents – use engine braking and short, firm brake applications instead.
🧹 Clean rotors & calipers regularly
Remove dust, iron particles, and mud from rotors and calipers using a soft brush or brake cleaner. This prevents abrasive wear and keeps the system clean.
💦 Never use high‑pressure water on calipers
High‑pressure jets can force water and dirt past the caliper seals. Use a gentle spray or wipe with a damp cloth instead.
🔍 Regular inspections
Check brake fluid level monthly. Inspect hoses for cracks, bulges, or hardening. Look for leaks around calipers, banjo bolts, and master cylinder.
🛑 Dry your rotors before parking
After a ride in the rain or washing your bike, lightly apply the brakes a few times while rolling to a stop. This evaporates moisture from the rotors and prevents surface rust and squeaking the next time you ride.

Solutions for Spongy Brakes, Noise, Vibration & Poor Stopping Power
Brake issues rarely appear without warning. Learn to recognise the symptoms and fix them before they become dangerous.
🟡 Spongy / weak brakes
Air in the brake lines, degraded brake fluid, or stuck pistons.
✅ Bleed the system, replace fluid, clean and lubricate caliper pistons.
🔊 Brake noise (squeal / grind)
Worn pads (metal to metal), sand/dirt in the caliper, or rusted rotors.
✅ Replace pads if worn, clean caliper thoroughly, or resurface / replace rotors.
〰️ Brake vibration / judder
Warped rotor, loose pad, or unbalanced tyre.
✅ Check rotor runout, tighten caliper bolts, balance tyre.
↗️ Pulling to one side
Uneven pad wear on left vs right, or a sticking caliper piston.
✅ Replace pads in pairs, rebuild or clean sticking caliper.
Your brakes are your #1 safety system. Care for them daily, diagnose issues early, and they will reward you with consistent, powerful, and predictable stopping power for years.
