Complete Brake Fluid
Replacement Guide

Interval, Specs & Step‑by‑Step Process

Brake fluid is highly hygroscopic – it absorbs moisture over time. Contaminated fluid has a lower boiling point, which can cause vapor lock at high temperatures and lead to brake failure. Regular replacement is non‑negotiable.

📋 Interval & Specification

📅 Replacement Interval
Every 2 years or 20,000 km (standard)
In humid/rainy regions, shorten to 1.5 years.
🧪 Fluid Specification
DOT4 — Commuter / small‑displacement
DOT5.1 — Performance / aggressive riding
⚠️ DOT5 silicone‑based — NOT compatible

🔧 Replacement Process

1. Drain old fluid → 2. Clean reservoir → 3. Fill with new fluid → 4. Bleed section by section → 5. Top up to correct level → 6. Wipe away spills → 7. Low‑speed test ride

💡 Bleeding reminder: Pull lever → hold → open bleed nipple → close nipple → release lever. Repeat until fluid runs clear and bubble‑free. Never let the reservoir run dry during bleeding.

Fresh brake fluid = firm lever, consistent bite, and safe stops. Replace it on schedule, and your brakes will always be ready when you need them most.
